Ari Melber Shreds Conservatives Who Condemned Swearing But Now Defend Trumps Profanity

MSNBC’s Ari Melber gave a monologue on Monday night where he went after social conservatives who dismissed President Trump‘s profanity when they used to get all worked up about explicit language causing America’s degradation.

As the nation continues to discuss Trump’s remarks about “sh*thole countries,” Melber noted that Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, and various other conservatives used to go on and on about how bad language will corrupt American culture. However, many of those same right-wingers have changed their tune whenever curse words come from Trump or the people around him.

“Donald Trump’s attack on migrants from African and Latin nations was not only vile, it also turns out that it reveals hypocrisy by many of his allies,” Melber said. “That’s important because all of this turns out to be much bigger than just Trump.”

Melber eventually focused on televangelist Pat Robertson, who used to speak against Bill Clinton for ushering in an age of “sexual freedom,” yet managed to overlook the sexual behavior Trump spoke of on Access Hollywood. “This isn’t a story where the emperor has no clothes,” said Melber, “the rest of the royal court has been exposed, and it’s not pretty.”
