Heartbreaking. BTW, my dad, a white man born in 1919 though Moms was the funniest person on earth-never missed a TV performance and would roll over laughing at her.

(4,516 posts)Georgia to visit my brother at Fort Benning.
My friends wanted to go to mass and we went to the nearist Catholic Church.
We went in and beside the priest we were the only white persons in the church.
After mass some teen girls invited us to coffee and donuts in the church basement. But the coffee and donuts were canceled that day. I always thought it was because of us.
The girls then invited us to their grandmothers house for donuts. We went and had a nice time.
The girls told us about their life in Columbus and why they want to leave there.
For instance they were not permitted to cross the bridge to go to the movies without a white person being with them.
I learned a lot that day
