Some form of pointed dissent to trump's speech is clearly called for.

The Constitution requires the President to report to the Congress on the state of the union. (Although not in person). That would suggest a duty on the part of Congress - and therefore - Senators and Representatives to hear the report.
What I would recommend is that Democratic Senators and Representatives go. When the President is announced, sit quietly. Through out the speech, sit quietly. When the speech is over, sit quietly and then leave.
