Huckabee battles ‘militant homosexuals’ with ‘Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day’

Fox News host Mike Huckabee is so outraged that The Muppets and “militant homosexuals” are attacking Christian restaurant chain Chick-fil-A for their stance on LGBT rights that he has calling for “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” on August 1.

“I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld,” Huckabee wrote on his Facebook page. “At 91, he is still active in the company, but his son Dan runs it day to day as CEO. It’s a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.”

“I ask you to join me in speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 ‘Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day,’” he added. “The goal is simple: Let’s affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we’re considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.”

In a message to his supporters, Huckabee explained that “militant” homosexuals were “bullying” Chick-fil-A with “intolerance and vicious hate speech.”

he uses dog whistle words knowing full well they have a connotation that the RW has developed.
Just as Limbaugh has not used the N----- word, but he sure let's on what he means.
And I won't defend the journalists - lord knows their sloppiness abounds anymore. But it seems all they did was use the connotations that "traditional marriage" has taken on.

Chik-fil-a supports the discrimination of the LGBT community... period.

Chick-Fil-A Donates $2 Mil to Antigay Groups
http://www.advocate.com/business/2012/07/02/chick-fil-donates-2-mil-antigay-groups

A previous investigation showed the company donating the same amount to antigay causes in 2009, despite constant statements from spokespeople denying that Chick-Fil-A supports an antigay agenda.

WinShape, Chick-Fil-A's official charitable arm, has donated $1.9 million to Exodus International, the National Christian Foundation, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Family Research Council, the Marriage and Family Foundation, and the Georgia Family Council, Equality Matters reported Monday.

The largest donation, $1.1 million, went to the Marriage and Family Foundation, an anti-gay marriage organization that raises money for the Marriage CoMission. The latter group was created in response to the "downward spiral of marriage and the traditional family in America."

The quote from the actual article:

http://www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=38271

Some have opposed the company's support of the traditional family. "Well, guilty as charged," said Cathy when asked about the company's position.

"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.

I think one can easily draw a parallel between the company's donations to anti-gay organizations and his quote on "traditional family" and see the "guilty as charged" quote for what it is. It is a case of bad journalism only if the pieces leave out the fact that Chik-fil-a supports anti-gay organizations monetarily. Besides, when anyone refers to traditional marriage and/or biblical marriage, they sure as hell aren't waving flags to include LGBT marriage.

6. Am I a Muppet or a militant homosexual?

I'd love to be a Muppet, but I'll take militant homosexual if that's what my support for gay marriage means. I have been called a number of things in 60+ years, but these two are new.

What a fruitless endeavor it is to worry about some right wingers participating in August 1 ‘Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day. Rather than trying to obsess, just stop going to Chick Fil-A. The owners are telling the LGBT community that they don’t approve of their lifestyle. Obviously they are not expecting the same community to give them money. So don’t.

12. lol. You really think it's just the GLBT community? Grab a clue, honey.

It's far, far bigger than that. I'm straight. I don't support any asswipe bigoted business that doesn't support marriage equality or full civil rights for my GLBT brothers and sisters. And that's not just the majority view here at DU.

welcome to DU.

Now let me ask you a direct question (or 2): Do you support marriage equality for gay and lesbian folks? Do you support non-discrimination against that community?

Anyone who thinks Huckabee is a genuine Christian just because he is a former pastor is deceived. The bible says those who worship in Jesus should have no fellowship with those in darkness, but Huckabee goes hunting with a gun totting, statutory rapist, foul mouth fool.
