I just got a WaPo push that Cheetolini is entertaining a work requirement provision for Medicaid.
Im thinking Paul Ryan put that bug in his ear. Can I get a second?

(14,576 posts)It's called 'work related activity' and the participant must engage in it in order to 'earn' his/her benefits. No training, which is what is most needed, but a requirement they be 'working' somewhere for no money.
Most of the people on Medicaid who aren't on TANF are working anyway, in low wage jobs. Like at Wal-Mart.

(1,822 posts)a work requirement to receive unemployment? this all goes back to the old GOP view that anyone that is on entitlement programs is a lazy, free loading, slob. Are their people like that out there? Absolutely, but to paint everyone like that, wow. Will there be a provision for disability? How long do you get to keep it if you lose your job? Things that I'm sure Trump has really been mulling over I'm sure.

(23,102 posts)7%! This will get almost no one off Welfare. They just have to go to a certain # of places a month and asks if they have jobs, if not, the person signs the list and you move on. Big whoop. A lot of people on Medicaid are children and disabled or the mothers of small children and none of these can work. The first 2 are easy to see, the mothers can't work because child care costs so much and I really doubt they will include $ for that since the goal isn't to have more workers but to save the state $ so rich can be freeloaders.

(63,213 posts)I live in a low income Red county, many residents of which rely heavily on government assistance of some kind even as they howl about parasites suckling at the gub'mint teat.
When the cheered the orange asshole for attacking Obamacare, I told them that Trump would next come after the programs upon which they themselves rely, namely Medicare and Social Security, they answered in one of two ways:
1. "Nuh-uh!"
2. "It might be hard for me, but I trust that he's doing what's best for the country."
They are idiots queuing up for the slaughterhouse, and they mock anyone who fails to volunteer for the stun line.
