Finnished reading the whole Glenn Simpson transcripts.

He did confirm that Steele himself had gone to the FBI with the dosser information because he was so concerned with what the Russians were doing. He also stated that Steele had told him that they had already had information on it. He stated that he had worked with Steele in the past and that he had high regard for his work. He made note of the numerous ties to reputed Russian mobsters, and the fact that he had traveled to Russia several times for business deals but never completed one.

Much of the questioning from the Republican lawyers was in relation to work they did for Prevezon and the law firm of Baker and Hostetler in researching a man named William Browder. Evidently Browder had previously been interviewed by the committee and had made some serious allegations about Fusion Gps and Christoper Steele. Those allegations had even been repeated by Sarah Huckabee Sanders in press conferences. This may have been where the notion that the Democrats were the ones who colluded with the Russians actually began. It's interesting to note that Browders name is never brought up in the conversation.

It's about the Magnitsky act which froze the assets of Russian thugs and took away their ability to get visas to the US. Browder is the man responsible for getting the act passed. The Magnitsky Act is what led Russia to end all adoptions to US residents which is what Don Jr was allegedly talking to the Russians about in Trump tower in June of 2016.

The books is a great read btw

That poor man! Almost ten hours of browbeating by the committee of interviewers. Gotta love Simpson's scrappy lawyer who pushed back like a boss! He had to remind those bozos that his client's testimony was voluntary. The inquisitors first had to be smacked down for asking Simpson ye same questions over and over like they were trying to trap him into giving different answers to the same questions but he was steadfast. Then they tried to get him to admit that Hillary financed the dossier. Then tried to incriminate the FBI by having him say the FBI paid Steele to produce the dossier. Then they tried to get Simpson to admit to partisan bias, that he was a Democrat. When that didn't work they tried blaming him for the dossier leak to Buzzfeed!

312 pages! It read like a crime novel or a Clarence Darrow courtroom drama. Simpson held his own with grace and respect. And his lawyer gave new meaning to 'I've got your back!'

I can understand why the Repubs were sitting on this testimony trying to prevent its release. It was truly a testament to Republican vindictiveness and ignorance!

You are right - it’s not just that Simpson reveals truths that we need to hear in response to Dems questions, - it’s how bad GOP looks bad in the questions they ask, the tone of the questions and the badgering. It’s like two separate interviews.

Now, I've two things to read due to your review.

And wasn't the R's suppression of the truth here actually an obstruction of justice?

The Rs are keeping a criminal in office because they too have been on the take.

True that. But isn't their whole modus operandi 'suppression of truth'?

If one gets convicted, they all should. A real life House of Cards!

We can only hope.

and yes, he made a bunch of money investing in Russia. While some people who make lots of money are assholes, this alone doesn't make them evil.

Browder is a bad guy turned good. Glenn Simpson sure doesn't think so. Don't know what to think about that rift. Both seem justified for their contempt for each other. My brain's jury is still out on this one.
