any D running in my back country will NOT say a thing about gun rights\ or lack of them. We all know that if they do, even in SAFE republican districts, the NRA will bring in LOTS of cash... and I mean LOTS of it.

They are specifically instructed BY THE PARTY not to.

it's the voters the politicians are ultimately afraid of. If there weren't enough voters objecting to anti-gun policies, then politicians advocating gun-bans would be untouchable. As it is now the policians must act in a manner to appease and represent the views of the majority of their constituancy or they will lose votes... which in an ideal world, is exactly what a polician is supposed to do (keep the voters happy).

If anything, I think the NRA is keeping the policians aware of the votes they will be losing. The real threat is the VOTERS who are pro-gun... not the NRA.

gun laws. Even the assault weapons ban.
I agree with you that the NRA keeps the politicians aware of the votes they will be losing. The NRA will will "swift boat" any attempt to restrict guns of any kind.
The low info voters are absoultely convinced that all of their guns will be taken from them .....if there are any changes at all.
