Yes. Trump longs for the ghost of Roy Cohn, who, if there's any justice, is in Hell right now having horrible things done to him. He thinks the Justice Department should operate like a low-life law firm, shielding him from the nasty world.

Between the publication of Fire and Fury, this Times piece, and the piece in New York Magazine, in the span of a week we've had confirmed what we always knew: Trump is a dangerously unhinged megalomaniac, who went from running for President as a lark to believing he actually had the nous and gravitas to inhabit the world's most powerful office.


Just a couple of weeks ago, the punditry was saying that Trump had turned a page after his tax "victory". Those of us who observed him knew this wouldn't last. And it hasn't. A regime as dysfunctional as this one can never hold on to any gains. It will lose them and then some. The saving grace which gives us more than a fighting chance is that Trump is no steely-eyed schemer like Vladimir Putin. He's an undisciplined, out of control child, who has been given matches and a stove. He can still do a lot of damage, and is doing so. But his time on the stage will be short.
