Employees at an Ontario Tim Hortons owned by the children of the chain's founders say they have been told to sign a document acknowledging they are losing paid breaks, paid benefits, and other incentives as a result of the province's minimum wage hike.
"I feel that we are getting the raw end of the stick," said one front line employee who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of losing their job.
The franchise is located in Cobourg, Ont., about 115 kilometres east of Toronto. The owners are Ron Joyce Jr. and Jeri-Lynn Horton-Joyce, the son and daughter of the chain's co-founders, Ron Joyce and the late Tim Horton, respectively. Employees say they are married.

It only says one franchise in Cobourg, but it will probably be all outlets owned directly by these franchisees.

They gave me a coffee with a tea bag in it...don't know if they thought they were funny or didn't know how to make it...but complained to the company and they could have given a damn...I never go there. And now with these actions, I see I was correct...spoiled rich brats got make a killing off the poor.

(6,023 posts)I'm not kidding - worst ones I've ever had. I used to travel to Niagara Falls and Toronto, and they were just plain awful - greasy, tasteless, etc. I haven't had one in 25 years. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work in one of those places.

(15,805 posts)$11.60 to $14, and these greedy, rich, privileged assholes retaliate by taking it out on their own workers? These geniuses couldn't even figure out a way to absorb or pass along an additional $2.40. Could they get any more stupid? Yes, apparently, because now they're mired deep into a public relations nightmare that with cost them far more than just money.
