Trumps Lawyers Send Bannon Cease-and-Desist Letter
Jonathan Bachman/Reuters
President Trumps lawyers have reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon to prevent him from making disparaging comments about the president and his family. The move comes after excerpts from an upcoming book on Trumps campaign and time in office revealed Bannon dissing Trump campaign officials, prompting a political firestorm and personal attacks by the president. Charles Harder, one of Trumps attorneys, said in a statement late Wednesday that Bannon has been notified his actions of communicating with author Michael Wolff regarding an upcoming book give rise to numerous legal claims including defamation by libel and slander, and breach of his written confidentiality and non-disparagement agreement with our clients, ABC News reports. Legal action is imminent, the statement warns. Harder reportedly informed Bannon he could be forced to fork over monetary damages for his disparaging and in some cases outright defamatory statements.

How can you require people in your administration to sign something like this? I know this is the Trump MO in his personal and business life but this is certainly different and I can't imagine that Bannon is intimidated.

(6,709 posts)are WAY smarter than tRump's.
Also defamation/libel is very difficult to prove against a public figure. Who is more public than that guy?
And they think they will sue for monetary damages? For someone who is not supposed to be profiting from his office?
That would be priceless.
