what about the renditions started under Smirky... still going on now.
how transparent has Obama been on this? and why does it appear Justice Dept. is
hassling whistleblowers?

(1,418 posts)bcause Obama admin is NOT releasing "secret due to security reasons" info; how convenient, eh? Weak
and of course _you_ have no proof Obama has stopped rendition.
It immediately became clear, however, that this was not going to be easy. Rendition activities are performed
by top secret intelligence agencies, so it's possible we'll never really know whether extraordinary renditions
have ceased.
Thus Obama is not transparent on this issue.

...fascinating when someone tries to detract from a hit against Romney by resorting to red herrings.
"and of course _you_ have no proof Obama has stopped rendition."
The ACLU does.
- Ordered an end to the use of torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment, withdrew
flawed legal analysis used to justify torture and applied the Army Field Manual on interrogations
government wide. - Abolished the CIA secret prisons.
- Says that waterboarding is torture and contrary to Americas traditions
contrary to our ideals.
- No reports of extraordinary rendition to torture or other cruelty under his administration.
- Failed to hold those responsible for past torture and other cruelty accountable; has blocked
alleged victims of torture from having their day in court.
Obama also released his tax returns, which is more relevant to the point of the OP.

Given what has been going on with the various "dark agencies" the last fifty years (COINTELPRO, TIA, etc., there is
just no way myself or any crtically thinking person can believe what the government is stating regarding what
these agencies are doing/not doing.
there's zero credbility here, and it's the government's fault.
right now agents are working in and around syria. it's of course for a "good cause", and we won't hear much
about it in MSM.. we'll get a bit more info 10-15 years from now, just like we did with the book "Charlie Wilson's
War" which detailed the largest covert war our agencies ever ran-- supporting/arming the taliban when they
were fighting Soviet army occupation of Afghanistan. read it if you have not done so already

...the fuck are you talking about, and what the hell does it have to do with Obama's record on rendition?
In fact, what the fuck does it have to do with the OP?

(13,069 posts)We know nearly everything there is to know about Obama.
How can we assess Romney's fitness for President if he refuses to disclose--his tax returns, his history with Bain, his part in the Olympics, his income...etc.
You are setting up a false comparison. Imagine a Romney presidency? If he won't tell us anything about himself...what would make you think he would be forthcoming about anything else he does as president?

(1,418 posts)Obama is POTUS, Rmoney is not.
I'm not succumbing to Teh Fear regarding Rmoney. that doesn't work on me

(21,925 posts)which is next to nothing. Romney is engaged in the most disrespectful campaign to America society in the recent history of the Presidency. I dread to think what a Romney Presidency would be like: cabinet members who never give their real names but go under code names and testify before Congress only in darkened silhouette. He's engaged in a stealth campaign refusing to give any information and trusting to the stupidity of the citizenry and their hatred of the sitting President..
