Imagine the outrage if Obama had destroyed government records like Mitt Romney did
Posted on July 23, 2012
People with nothing to hide dont destroy emails and remove hard drives from government computers. Secrecy and hidden dirt is becoming Mitt Romneys theme song.
Flashback from November 2011 Romney admits he destroyed government records:

The flying monkeys would have been unleashed permanently if Obama had done something like this.

(35,317 posts)Would have saved time and effort.
Bulk erased disks (this was a while ago), erased a lot of stuff on the hard drive and then filed the hard drive with huge document files that said "Xxx xxx xxx xxx". Lots and lots of megabytes of "xxx xxx". Erased all but one, replaced the Xs with Ys, and then copied that file to fill up the hard drive.
Suspicious as hell.
Some of the documents scrapped would have served as a useful basis for a good discussion. It would never happen. All the self-professed uniters were really "screw them, unite behind me or be damned." To protect some guilty parties who didn't need the hassle, to protect many innocent people from having documents out of context distorted, to protect my own privacy (personal correspondence, thesis, term papers), lots of data were destroyed. Having said that we didn't have any backup systems or procedures and if there was a disk crash we'd be screwed I was accused of saying I was going to crash the hard drive to hurt the organization.
When people haven't given you the benefit of the doubt, the one thing you can be sure they deserve is your doubt.
And, yes, if Obama and his staff did this there'd be hell to pay. Partly just because nobody's going to give him and his staff any more benefit of the doubt than they'd give others--that's politics of destruction and personal advantage, which defines American politics. But at least as much because it would be in direct violation of federal law. Did MA at the time have the same kind of law?
