PSU sanctions:

Fine of 60 million dollars - money to be given to organizations dealing with abuse

4 year bowl ban

4 year reduction from 25 to 15 scholarships for 4 years (each year)

Vacate wins from 1998-2011 (Whoa! That will leave a mark! There goes JoePa's record for most wins)

5 year probationary period

More being listed.

PSU signed consent decree. That means no appeal by PSU.

Certainly goodbye PSU for quite a while - may never recover, but I suspect OSU, Michigan and Michigan State will be stronger because of this.

Those aren't cuts as much as hatchet wounds - not that I'm arguing, though.

Both the NCAA $60M and Big Ten $13M/year (est) are going to charity.

They belong in JAIL for a long time.
Damnit they to the TRUST of children and let them down.

If they thought that the football team was more important then a boys LIFE, they belong in jail.
And I do mean their life.
Rape is a life sentence.
It never is far from my mind.
I was raped multiple times by a family "friend'
from the ages of 4 to 10
Should I take retribution?
I dont know, I have thought of it.
But his mother is a very sweet person and maybe I'll wait till she cant be hurt by it.
He deserves something, I still think of it.
The shame and humiliation of what was done to a child is overpowering to me sometimes.

And he is alive and well, I guess anyway, I dont look for him.

Seeing a story like sandusky just brings it to the front
I guess it'll never go away.

Like a bell struck 50 years ago that still rings in my ears today.

That scumbag Paterno doesnt deserve it. He got there only by sacrificing the lives and safety of children.

I do feel for the players who will be hurt by some of the conditions. Sad, for everyone.

None of the current players (including ones who would normally be starting this fall) lose their scholarships, and they're being encouraged by the NCAA to transfer to less rapey schools without penalty. People further down the road can go somewhere else, or accept the sanctions and maybe put some thought into academics instead, and past players' individual records aren't affected at all.

Either way, the athletics program at a whole is near the bottom of the list of things whose wellbeing people should be caring about.

I just feel for the players who are there now, particularly the ones who are hoping to go pro. If they go to another school, they might not play as much because the position is filled.....the young people are caught up in this mess. But, for some players it might work out just fine. Have to wait and see.
