What do conservatives talk about?

I am sorta new to DU, lately, and I can't help but notice the wide variety of subjects that all of you enjoy and are passionate about.... Books, movies, nature, music, cooking, science, photography ........

That got me to wondering, what do right wing conservatives talk about? If they're all like Donnie, they don't read books. They think education is only for "liberal elites." They consider Hollywood full of "liberal loons", so they probably don't watch movies. I can't picture Donnie sitting through a play or a concert. They don't seem to value nature much, or appreciate our beautiful planet. They dismiss scientific facts as "fake news". So, I got to wondering, what the heck do they talk about when they're together? The weather? The stock market? Anyone have any ideas???

In their daily lives, they have the same range of interests you see here, but tend more to trucks and guns and less to nature. Both are gun nuts but one is a AR-15 guy and the other shoots trap and skeet with occasional hunting thrown in. One is wealthy and one is lower middle class. Ironically we don't talk politics much b/c it causes problems and we still want to be friends... As most have stated taxes and immigration is big on their list and as some have pointed out what ever fox is pushing that day is high on their list... I think it's funny about the immigration thing as all of us friends are second generation born from immigrant parents... We mostly talk cars, motorcycles, planes, building stuff, radio etc. No politics, religion or sports as that tends to be divisive... It works for us... Although I must admit sometimes my conservative friends have to make a comment every once and a while. My wealthy friend made a comment about how much money we were all gonna get back and I had to call him on it... Then it quiets down... He had his "let them eat cake" moment..

Personhood legislation - they want to force women to carry to term and jail them for negligent homicide if they miscarry. Unless of course you are on public assistance of any kind, then they want to sterilize you.
The coming wrath of God, purge of the gene pool and "returning" America to a Christian Nation aka Theocracy.
Schools <gasp> science classes...liberal indoctrination!
Disparaging people who work minimum wage jobs. It's not a REAL job unless you make over 250K a year or own the business.
Of course the top 3 are still guns, racist jokes and HS football.
Rounding out the top 10 - the price of oil, cattle and a hunting lease.

and if I confront them, they swear they aren't racist and I am a leftist without a sense of humor.

They all disgust me.

I got in my mother's face and called her a Goddamn Racist at Thanksgiving. I've never, well, rarely, disrespected her before. It just came out. I started screaming it. She is very old, ill. It is time for me to quit going to family events. There is too much hostility, from both sides.

are teaching their children. We have to reeducate them.
There is hope. I was raised in a racist town, and the schools were integrated when I was in Jr High. I and many of my friends are liberal, even socialist, so there is hope to wipe out the bigoted, immoral, thieves.

Throwing of shade on anything not perfectly like them. Black and white "for us or against us" thinking. Hypocrisy abounds.

Welcome to DU, Ohiogal! .............

Prior to retiring, I worked many a service job in your state and got my fill of Repugs there.

when my group of friends gather - all of us lefty to the core - military history is one of our main discussion topics. I’ve never considered it a terribly conservative interest.

Their kids. Favorite sports teams. Movies and what they just binge-watched on Netflix. Pets. Video games.

They probably don’t talk about books and art a lot, not because they’re conservative but rather because almost NOBODY talks about books and art much anymore. I’m a reader, but many of my friends and family are not, irrespective of political leanings.

Without doubt they occasionally bring up politics and the outrage of the day, but mostly people weary of talking politics with friends and family.

They aren’t aliens — they’re just wrong about everything.

Nazi/Hitler collectibles
Flipping houses with the skill of a 9 year old
"My rich uncles fabulous property he was so smart etc"
Tales of how great and rich he'll be (while living off Mommy and Daddy, who fund his failing 'business')
Buying what he thinks look like "fancy/rich" (gaudy/shite) antiques at auction. Hoarding said treasures as no one will buy the shit.
Tales of how clever he is

It actually is hilarious.
