6. Actual -14 here, this morning with -27 scheduled for overnight.

Anyone else having problems with the furnace reaching temp? Yesterday, it was 4 degrees lower than it should have been. This morning, it was 7 degrees below asking temp. It is a heat pump and I've never had one before. Any suggestions on how to get the temps up? I've closed the registers in the basement just leaving a bit open to keep from freezing the pipes. Just had 12" of insulation blown into the attic a couple days ago, which seemed to help. I don't even want to think of how far below asking temp it will be the next two days when it is -27 to -30.

9. minus 8 in Chicago.

I don't know what the wind chill was, minus 20 something according to the radio. I took my dogs out on their customary one mile walk this morning and was thankful when I got back in. It was brutal. I have hunting dogs and the more miserable the weather the longer they want to stay out in it.
