(50,310 posts)Snow I can live with. Extreme cold scares me. It looks like it will improve for us a little during the week, but next weekend it's supposed to be -18 for a low.

(34,125 posts)-8 temp, feels like - 15 with a lovely wind chill of - 24. Gotta go work in it in a couple of hours, I am waiting until it warms up? Actually this is supposed to be it for the next couple of days. I hope all the animals make it through. NE Kansas

(16,254 posts)Anyone else having problems with the furnace reaching temp? Yesterday, it was 4 degrees lower than it should have been. This morning, it was 7 degrees below asking temp. It is a heat pump and I've never had one before. Any suggestions on how to get the temps up? I've closed the registers in the basement just leaving a bit open to keep from freezing the pipes. Just had 12" of insulation blown into the attic a couple days ago, which seemed to help. I don't even want to think of how far below asking temp it will be the next two days when it is -27 to -30.

(70,310 posts)tis a bit chilly here!
* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected. The cold wind chills
will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed
skin. Expect wind chills to range from 25 below zero to 40
below zero.

(32,082 posts)I don't know what the wind chill was, minus 20 something according to the radio. I took my dogs out on their customary one mile walk this morning and was thankful when I got back in. It was brutal. I have hunting dogs and the more miserable the weather the longer they want to stay out in it.
