Doctors have listed the daughter of police chokehold victim Eric Garner as brain dead with no chance of recovery five days after the mother of two suffered a massive heart attack, the Daily News has learned.
Family members were being called early Thursday to Woodhull Hospital to say final goodbyes to Erica Garner, who became an outspoken critic of police brutality after her fathers death in 2014.
The 27-year-old firebrand remained on life support Thursday morning, her mother Esaw Snipes said.

(3,181 posts)Of all the cases of police brutality in recent years, Garner and Philando are the cases that touched me the most. I feel very sad about this young warrior's passing, but her legacy needs to live on. 😞

(31,465 posts)#EricaGarner died this morning after suffering a major heart attack several days ago. The 27 year old became a vocal advocate against #police brutality after her father #EricGarner died after he was put in a chokehold by a #NYPD officer. More this morning @NY1

(12,029 posts)This was all set off by an asthma attack.
The saddest death I ever saw was a 15-year-old girl on vacation with her parents in Hawaii. She had an asthma attack and was rushed into the E.R. I'll never forget the sound of her sobbing father in the waiting room.

(4,959 posts)by Matt Taibbi (yes, despite the recent controversy about his past writing). It was an amazing book and much of the narrative centered around Erica, her relationship with her dad, and the amazing activist she became in the wake of his murder.
I'm a little choked up about this, actually. Taibbi is a great storyteller and I feel like I got to know her somehow.
