Must be so disappointing to aspiring democracies around the world.

The votes of 3 million Americans (approximately) did not count in the 2016 presidential election because of the electoral college.
We changed the way we elect senators with an amendment to the Constitution. Let's change the way we elect the president.
Justice prevails. If you vote, your vote should count.

(65,203 posts). . .it was actually put in place (at least in part) so voters couldn't do something dumb like elect a dumbass, know-nothing blowhard with an impossible populist message. Then we get to the present day, and the electors felt absolutely bound to political obligations and didn't do their duty.

(58,719 posts)and compromised mightily to give us the gov't system we have. Perhaps it is time to consider an adjustment, but I wouldn't scrap the system completely.
