I woke up this morning to realize that I am still struggling with a health problem that I had thought resolved itself.
Then I turned on the TV to morning Joe, and realized that the news has been nothing but the same old fucking bullshit for approximately 1 year. THE SAME OLD FUCKING GARBAGE WHERE EVERYONE KNOWS THERE IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THIS ADMINISTRATION, AND YET NOTHING IS DONE.
We are hanging our hats on the results of the Mueller investigation. I'm now starting to realize that Congress will do absolutely nothing to get Trump the fuck out of there, no matter what the results of the investigation are. So, then the only hope will be State charges. We are hanging on by our pubic hairs at this point.
The problem is the United States Congress. The Republicans in Congress are complicit in what will surely be the complete downfall of this country. Because of greed. Fuck them all in the ass with red hot strands of barbed wire.

(2,771 posts)day after day after day, for all of 2017. The Republicans aren't going to do anything because they are in on the game. The only way for this to even begin to start getting fixed is to vote. Muller can't save us, we can only save ourselves; and understand that 30% of this country doesn't give a good god damn if the country is turned to rubble in the name of "winning"

This is the last gasp of heterosexual white males refusing to relinquish power to those they feel are not superior beings: women, people of
color, those of a faith different than the WASP tradition, and the LGBT community.

Democrats Are Dominating the Generic Ballot. What Does That Mean?
The partys advantage has ballooned over the last few months, improving its outlook for retaking the House.
By Nate Cohn
Dec. 20, 2017
Despite all the unusual political events of the last few years, one thing in electoral politics is proceeding by the book: the growing Democratic advantage on the generic congressional ballot.
The generic ballot is a poll question that asks voters whether theyll vote for Democrats or Republicans for Congress, and historically its been a decent predictor of the House popular vote. Democrats now lead by over 13 points, according to the FiveThirtyEight generic ballot tracker, after a CNN/SSRS poll on Wednesday gave Democrats a staggering 18-point edge, 56 percent to 38 percent.
A 13-point edge would be similar to or larger than their advantage in 2006, when Democrats won control of both the House and the Senate.

(6,448 posts)we are immersed in the SQUIRREL!!! phenomenon. Sigh. I expect that just prior to the next election, "new information" will come to light through different media pathways to show that actually, provably, Democrats have been ruining the country. Progressives especially! And the folk will lap it up. No proof. No reason for people to believe it. But they will. Ugh... sorry. It's been a real depressing day. Sometimes it feels like no matter how hard you try, how good you are... shit just piles on you from above. Thank goodness for beer.

(14,542 posts)Get Out The Vote. If we are stuck with trump the Dems can neuter him. If the R's don't impeach him, they need to primary him for a chance to save their party.
CrispyQ
(36,526 posts)when in the past 35 years have you seen the Democratic Party show some grit & stand up to the R's? And what makes you think they are suddenly going to do that?
The dems are the ones that have been neutered. Thirty-five years of drifting right every time some pundit called the party liberal. Capitulating to the 2000 election theft without a peep. Not questioning the 2004 Ohio election results. Letting a president lie us into a war without any consequences. Gee, I wonder how the GOP got the idea they could do whatever the fuck they want?
Our problem is that we haven't had a true opposition party for over 35 years. We have a few fighters, one less since they kicked Franken to the curb, but as a party, the dems are weak & the GOP knows this. If the dems get any influence again, they will "look forward & work with the other side in the name of healing the nation."
Congress, dem or repub, is not going to do anything.
I don't mean to sound confrontational, but I'm so fucking pissed at the dems & their 40 year milquetoast strategy.

(14,542 posts)And agree to a certain extent. With D's in solid control they will be writing the bills, approval of appointments, and a few other things. Will they be doing the opposite of what the R's are doing now, no. To me it is a step in the right direction. We will end up with bills that have a shit burger in them to get bi-partisan support, but we won't have bills made entirely of shit burgers.
I wish Dem's would learn that you can't compromise with crazy; Nazi; and/or willfully stupid.

(4,614 posts)Given what transpired in 2016 I am highly doubtful. Gerrymandering, Russians, homegrown manipulation and suppression have basically neutered our electoral system. We can expect dirty tricks on steroids.

(36,526 posts)My bad. I do think protest marches have their place, but one or two major marches a year is not enough. They need to be consistent, like every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month. But more importantly, they need to be followed up with calls & emails to congress. My non-political friends were outraged last year after the Con's inauguration. They went to the two big marches, & a couple of post card parties, where they signed & mailed preprinted postcards to Ryan, & five months later, they couldn't be bothered to call Cory Gardner about the ACA. When I called congress about the ACA sometimes the lines were busy. When I called for the tax bill, lines were never busy, voice mail boxes were never full. I even got a couple of real people on the line! Someone on MSNBC said that congressional aides said that the calls against the tax bill were significantly less than the calls against the ACA. Maybe a few more calls would have swayed a critical vote or two.

(32,090 posts)to my stomach ever since I first saw that unfit Dotard boarding a US helicopter last January, wearing a jacket with the Presidential seal on it. I literally felt sickened. Since then it's been a variety of emotions --rage, sadness, sickened, disgust .... And the newspapers talk about Dumpy's "Legislative Achievements", or his "Reshaping the Presidency" or "Unique Use of Twitter" or the fact that he is "Shaking up Washington" -- GAH! Even the New York Times does this! No wonder nobody thinks this mentally ill imbecile is anything but normal!
I wish we'd hear more out and out fury and stronger words from the Dems. The Republicans are beyond help. They all fall into lockstep with The Dotard when all is said and done. And my Senator, Rob Portman, is one of the worst. He is portrayed in the media as "centrist", yet he votes the party line every time. It's infuriating!!!! I write to him about once a week and never hear back. His minions probably delete my letters as soon as they arrive.

(49,045 posts)If RepubliCONs in Congress are the problem (they are), then make sure that all the voters know that in 2018.
Also, you can push on social media to split the Trumpanzee base from the GOP establishment. Many of them are already there and will either primary out the GOP to nominate Bannonista alt-right radicals or will stay home if a GOP establishment candidate wins their primary.

(1,588 posts)destruction of our country fuels the determination to resist by helping in every way possible at the local level. Whenever l see or hear the illegal resident of the Oval Office instinct reminds that l need a bath, especially when it relates to the $91 M and counting tax payers have coughed up for visits to his private properties. tRump is playing golf to help make his payments to Putin, and we are all paying for it. That is rubbing salt into an already painful wound. There is a criminal enterprise at work, not a president.

(5,815 posts)I feel like I have been on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I have experienced a wide range of emotions, seen my hopes raised, followed by the certain knowledge that my hopes were being dashed on the rocks of reality. I have been misled by people I thought might get some integrity and defend us by using the Constitution as their guide. The people WE ELECT (supposedly) to represent us stand by and allow tRump to carry out Putins plan to attack us from within. We see new tactics to weaken us, remove protections and benefit the wealthy get put in place every day. And yet, nothing is being done to stop the madness.
I honestly had hopes earlier this year that tRumps reign of terror would be short lived. I thought that once his connections to Putin were revealed that hed be promptly removed by a Congress that would do the right thing. It is obvious now that that wont happen. He really could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and still retain the Presidency. The Republicans are gonna ride that horse until the nag drops dead. So much for doing the right thing for the country, much less the citizens who ARE the country.
I am tired of playing Charlie Brown to the Congress Lucy and the football. We are lured into thinking that finally tRump has gone too far, even for the Republicans. We have a few days of outrage and people rushing to microphones and then it just all dies away. Honestly, I think that is the plan and has been all along. Just wear us down with mind games until we just get too tired to play any more. They have enticed us for nearly a year, making us believe that something would be done.
The remedy we are relying on at this point is Mueller. It is clear that there is still much work to be done to build a good, solid investigation. Sadly, in my estimation, by the time that investigation is completed, it will be far too late. The damage will be done and the U.S. as we know it will be a very different place. Almost unrecognizable. We had a nice run, but were done.

(98 posts)I'd almost be willing to bet our home that absolutely NOTHING will come from the Mueller investigation. Only a bunch of the same old BS talk only to keep us hoping for more and ratings for the Networks.
Personally, I think our best hope is to let the Mueller investigation run in the background and start working on deciding who our best viable candidates are and start their campaigns ASAP so they get known and prepare for the mid-terms and 2020.

Please understand this is something I would never do.
I now am beginning to understand the thought process of suicide bombers. I'm an Army vet in during the Vietnam war. I was totally ready in mind and body to give my life for the betterment of this country. Even though decades have past since my tour of duty, (I'm 65), I still have that sense of duty.
I know that this is next to impossible but if I could get close to that orange ass I would push the button on my vest.
