In honor of the season, and of our dear friend pinboy3niner

I once again present The Door Buzzard Thread
It was and remains a thing of beauty.

Strictly speaking, I'm the one who coined the phrase "Door Buzzard" in Reply #33, but pinboy3niner really ran with it and made it his own. Without his advocacy, it would have dropped off the radar fairly quickly.

Credit also to DUer Codeine, who posted this masterful setup that is, for my money, even funnier than Door Buzzard itself.

Read and reflect.

Rest well, pinboy3niner. You are dearly missed.

Last night before I went to sleep, I found myself thinking about pinboy and the door buzzard. Only another DUer would understand.

There are a few epic threads. The door buzzard is one. There is Oscar, "don't tutch the butt," the kudzu thread, Walt Starr.

I can't imagine anyone not liking pinboy3niner. I will think of him fondly and miss him.

That was the funniest one of all time to me! He couldn't get his point through to anyone at DU (and with good reason).

No one, NO ONE was more supportive of my campaign here in south central New Mexico. Our county has not elected any Democrat for any position in over 20 years and he gave me so much encouragement.

He wanted to come out and canvass for me; later I realized how sick he was. I had his private info and when I found out he'd died, I posted it on DU. I never had a more broken heart than then.

That Pinboy was a play on words, pun master. He's missed.

Never saw the OP after that myself. I'm sure he was a good sport.

I had no clue he was ill, his leaving came as a profound shock, because he was such a integral part of DU for so many years.

I am sure he and MFM are happily together, punning away for the fjords.

We've lost many, but losing pinboy3niner still stings and brings tears to my eyes.
I hope wherever he is, he's living it up and bouncing puns from every angle.

He did the same job I did in Iraq, but in Vietnam. He helped to show me through his example that you can lead a meaningful life despite facing debilitating trauma.

I’ve been struggling to find meaning with my own life after my military experiences, but Pinboy has showed me it is possible to use those experiences to motivate you to make the world a better place.

I’m thankful that I had the chance to meet s man like him - even if it was only online.

Thank you, Pinboy.
