It would be lovely for parents-families to know they have health care in the upcoming months. Now they will have more anxiety over the Holidays. Shameful

Senate GOP pushes off ObamaCare bills until January

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) will be a crucial swing vote for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) next year, but it may be tougher to strike deals with her after McConnell failed to fulfill a pledge on health care.
The moderate senator told reporters this month that she had an ironclad commitment from McConnell and Vice President Pence to pass legislation by the end of the year to stabilize ObamaCare premiums. She wanted that assurance before committing her vote for tax reform.
But that vote has now been delayed until January due to opposition from House Republicans.
Collins isnt accusing McConnell of breaking his pledge, but she is disappointed in the outcome, according to sources familiar with the negotiations on health-care legislation.
Those sources added that Collins might think twice the next time GOP leaders promise her something.
Shes disappointed, but she doesnt see this as a breach of the agreement, she sees it as slipping, said a Senate GOP aide. These bills remain very important to her and shes committed to getting them done. ...............................................

(10,857 posts)I'm not going to do it, but I think it would be shooting fish in a barrel for a legislative researcher to prove that Susan Collins rarely if ever diverges from the hyperconservative agenda when her vote is needed.
In other words, she's basically a non-voting delegate who only gets to weigh her own opinion when it doesn't count.

(54,445 posts)1. Susan Collins is a naīve, stupid tool.
2.) Susan Collins is a conniving, typical Republican whose "thing" is putting up a façade like a "moderate," and then quashing the hopes of moderates every time her crucial vote is needed by McTurtle. She was planning to vote for the bill the whole time, and got her "assurances" purely as a fictitious fallback to lean on, and plans to say there were unexpected hitches on the road to her goal which she "is sure will be looked after," but will never be reached (and was never intended to).
I'm going with Door Number Two.
