On NBC's Today Show, Savannah Guthrie does a pretty good job this morning pinning down House Speaker Paul Ryan on his Ayn Randian tax cut hocus pocus. Of course, it's hard to swat back that many lies.
Ryan gave his pep talk about how the bill will slash corporate tax rates (which are already reasonable), increase competition and stimulate the economy.

(4,221 posts)If Repubs really wanted to spur job growth, they would write legislation specifically about "new jobs" - not tax reform. They would find ACTUAL ways to reward companies for new positions (not new hires, new positions) at median and higher wages -- or to reward corporations for building new facililities, etc.
If Repubs really wanted to stimulate the American economy they would find ACTUAL ways to counter wage stagnation for the bottom three quintiles.
Further, Repubs could have made this a tax REBATE instead if they TRULY wanted corporations to take the savings and have them hire more workers and/or increase wages. The rebate would be payable when the corporation submits a form at the end of each tax year PROVING they increased total number of workers and increased ALL wages in the corporation.
Republican politicians are just paying their donors/owners back while they have total control of the government. This is their one chance. They KNOW these voo-doo tricks do not work -- after the Bush taxcuts, the counts of employees at major corporations were down 10% or more.
Paul Ryan is so full of shit. The fact is, the leadership and most politicians are millionaires and live/work in DC on the cocktail circuit and only interact (unless forced to do otherwise) with the top 2% of earners/influencers in this country.
They live in a frigging bubble and the rest of us, the bottom four quintiles of the American population, simply DO NOT EXIST inside or outside of their little bubble. As George Carlin said, it's a big club, and we ain't in it!
WE NEED TO POP THAT FRIGGING BUBBLE!

Lyin' Ryan sure seems so upbeat about his stupid plan, doesn't he? He seems dead certain that everyone will love it in a year or two so why doesn't he explain exactly why that should be. He should offer proof like how well things are going in Kansas, for example.
