"Corker/Trump Tax Cut"
That way when America wonders why there taxes went up, it is because Corker and Trumps taxes went down.

(65,159 posts)We're crappy when it comes to framing the debate. If somebody as dull as Luntz can do it, we should be able to do it better. But, we don't.

(65,159 posts)The R's are getting away with this tax thing because they have 30% of the population thinking it means a new car, or at least a new fridge.
They have people (not all hard right R's) believing this. It's because they have found the right buzzwords that people can easily digest.
I know things are more complicated than buzzwords, but you can still find ways to make ideas and concepts stick in people's heads as a positive even though actually executing will be more complex. The complexity of doing it is irrelevant to the selling of it.
We're bad as the sales part.

EDIT TO ADD: No do-overs. My reply below applies to your original response.
The 30% to 35% who support #fakepresident? Ha!
Bannon had a perfect storm last year. They squeaked by with a combination of Comey, voter suppression, Russian interference, and bringing in a hitherto disaffected group of racists and ne'er do wells. You can't reason with this group and you will not "convert" them to any meaningful degree.
You're wrong. The answer is simple and you will see a wave in November because our base is the majority and we are motivated. Negativity is not the answer. Discord and discontent is not the answer. The answer is simple, and even if it isn't the best answer (nothing you can say can convince me that it isn't) then I invoke Occam's Razor.
What's so great, anyway, about sowing discord and discontent? I don't get it. Some people seem to cling to their "right" to be negative and some go all out to make everyone else conform to that "right." What is that, some kind of martyr complex?
Seize the day, ProfessorGAC. Laugh and the whole world laughs with you; cry and you cry alone.
Repeal and replace the tax scam!

(65,159 posts)And i never mentioned anything about converting the dullards. If we "messaged" better it would have been a landslide, and you know it.
Now i'm done. I'm on your side remember. Insults are no way to reinforce like mindedness.

That's ridiculous.
What you're doing is deflecting by changing the subject to some alleged defect about me. The subject here is the strategy of negativity. Obviously, since you resorted to deflection, you have no defense for that strategy.
Thanks for confirming my theory.

(32,640 posts)certainly doesn't create alliances, even if some people equate that sort of authoritarian thinking with "purity in thought."
Yeah, landslide. Plausible if you forget about voter suppression, interference by Russia, the historic improbability of keeping the White House for more than two consecutive terms, fake news that was eagerly lapped up by people who wanted to be "proven right" than to actually win the election, and so called "progressives" who had agendas that were served by Democrats failing.
I'd say winning more votes than anyone but Obama under those circumstances was pretty damn good.
ProfessorGAC
(65,159 posts)And i never used the word corrupt. So, not sure where you're getting that.
ehrnst
(32,640 posts)I was pointing out that many here seem to think that calling those who don't agree with them "corrupt" and voting for those candidates does not create alliances.
I think that many here believe that alliances are forged with "corruption."
