Behind SpeakerJohnson's Conversion on Ukraine Aid

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) did something rarely, if ever, seen in the MAGA era when he won passage Saturday of a $95 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

The other three top congressional leaders Mitch McConnell, Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer— pushed Johnson on how Russia would expand its war beyond Ukraine absent new weapons. Jeffries called it a "Churchill or Chamberlain moment."
President Biden's national security team, most importantly CIA Director Bill Burns, methodically walked Johnson through the damning intelligence.

The intelligence was so eye-opening to Johnson that he soon begged colleagues to go to the secure government chamber to see it themselves, the N.Y. Times.

W Texas A & M president cancels drag show, faces no confidence vote. (Kacysmarik case)

West Texas A&M University faculty leaders have called for a vote of no confidence this week to condemn President Walter Wendler less than a month after he came under fire from students and free speech groups for canceling a campus drag show.

Student leaders in a campus LGBTQ group sued Wendler, the university and the Texas A&M System, alleging he violated their First Amendment rights by canceling the show.

Federal Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk denied the students’ request to immediately reinstate the student event. The case is still pending
