R. Reich: How To Bar (trump) An Insurrectionist From Office

Thursday, June 22, 2023
This applies to Donald Trump. He cannot again be entrusted with public office. He led an insurrection!

Donald Trump should not be allowed on the ballot.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment prohibits anyone who has held public office and taken an oath to protect the Constitution from holding office again if they “have engaged in insurrection” against the United States.

This key provision was enacted after the Civil War to prevent those who rose up against our democracy from ever being allowed to hold office again.

He refused to concede the results of the 2020 election, claiming it was stolen, even when many in his inner circle, including his own attorney general, told him it was not.

Trump then pushed state officials to change vote counts, hatched a plot to name fake electors, tried to pressure his vice president into refusing to certify the Electoral College votes, had his allies seek access to voting-machine data, and summoned his supporters to attack the capitol on January 6th to disrupt the formal recognition of the presidential election results.

Mark your calendar! World population to reach 8 billion on 15 November 2022

United Nations, Department of Social and Economic Affairs [UN.org]

The global population is projected to reach 8 billion on 15 November 2022, and India is projected to surpass China as the world’s most populous country in 2023, according to World Population Prospects 2022, released today on World Population Day.

“This year’s World Population Day falls during a milestone year, when we anticipate the birth of the Earth’s eight billionth inhabitant. This is an occasion to celebrate our diversity, recognize our common humanity, and marvel at advancements in health that have extended lifespans and dramatically reduced maternal and child mortality rates,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres. “At the same time, it is a reminder of our shared responsibility to care for our planet and a moment to reflect on where we still fall short of our commitments to one another,” he added.

The global population is growing at its slowest rate since 1950, having fallen under 1 per cent in 2020. The latest projections by the United Nations suggest that the world’s population could grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030 and 9.7 billion in 2050. It is projected...

I finally purchased a new phone--2 days later dropped it, glass

..is shattered. Because I'm retired, on fixed income I opted not to add protection plan, glass protector or, a phone case..boy was completely wrong on not protecting my purchase. Checked with Verizon not even a 30day refund on purchase, so I'm shit out of luck! So..I called around replacement cost ranges between 100-200. [ Note only paid $250.00 for new phone wanted basic, no frills was happy to get new phone bc old one was literally being held together with small rubber bands so anything was better than what I had ] question to anyone out there is there an affordable way to replace glass..son says it's badly shattered may affect hardware something about dust moisture..to me it's usable--was thinking of just putting screen protector buy case to stabilize glass screen.

Thanks for allowing me to vent. I'm so upset with myself for not being proactive; upset with Verizon for allowing a customer to leave without the min. Protection eg glass protector, phone case. I should add a naive customer at that..so that's on me. Next time I'll know better. So with that, if anyone has any suggestions to minimize costs, please let me know. [ Note: I'm on a phone contract for 12 months for new phone.]

Ana Navarro On Gov. DeSantis: 'Grotesque And Irresponsible'By John Amato

CNN's Anna Navarro was horrified by this deadly and childish ploy to seduce the anti-vax/QAnon crowd.

"Now DeSantis is playing to the cheap seats. He is preying on those who want to turn this into an outrage, and wedge issue, and selling beer cozies, making campaign money off of COVID, and minimizing the pain of those who have lost loved ones in Florida and across the country." Navarro said.

She continued, "I think that's grotesque and irresponsible --- this idea of spiting ourselves, of harming ourselves in order to own the liberals is just, frankly, stupid. People like Ron DeSantis, he's a magna cum laude from Yale.
