New to the DU and I'm looking for where I may find topics related to the paranormal. Any suggestions??

Isn't it funny how a simply quote like that makes you invision a southerner or "Red Neck" just by the words that they used? You would never suspect that quote to come from someone like Bill Gates or Donald Trump. Why not? I'm sure all of us out there have used words like y'all. It's a good word!! A conjunction. It's not a racist word. Suitable for everyone!! So why is it that we expect certain groups of people to use a certain way of speaking? How can we judge someone's intelligence or back ground from the way the write or speak? Isn't that being judgmentitive? Bias? Racist? I'm sure we've all been guilty of not using proper punctuation or of having a long day and not using "proper English". Or maybe we're feeling a bit lazy and decide to "lol" or "OMG" at something. I know I do!! And why can't I do so with out someone commenting like -"you're under educated". Or "you can't live in Vermont because your tone is all wrong". ORRR "you're a troll because you're posting at such a late hour". Never mind the fact that I'm an insomniac who works second/third shift!!! And some one PLEASE TELL ME WHAT "TROLL" IS!! Anyway, your thoughts? Thanks! 
Politically correct or intellectually rude??
Working with the general public, I remind my self that I need to be politically correct all the time!! For instance, instead of describing someone as short, I use "vertically challeneged". It i need to use the word "fat" then I'd say heavy set. Or heavier. When we near holidays, I always stop myself mid sentence and refrain from merry Christmas or happy Chanukah. Instead, I revert to hope you're having a good season!! That's all good. I'm not so bothered by that. But when someone is being blatantly RUDE, how do you stop your self for responding in the same fashion?! I've stopped myself from saying things like "dumb ass!!" And correct it to you mentally challenged donkey. Or you folicly impaired, intuletctually challenged anus of a horse!! 
In all seriousness, it definately takes some one a bit of class and wits to defend them selves in some of these situations. Any examples of when you had to remain professional and use political correctness to defend yourself in akward situations? Please do share!! -this could be amusing and educational all at once.
Planned Parenthood
So I'm at planned parenthood with my daughter and had flyers shoved into her face and mine. Pro lifers attacking her for making a choice. Preaching freedom of speech and free will. It's all a bit contradictory. How can you prech freedom of choice when you're being told not to choose. ???? Wtf??
Feelings on BSL? Bully Breeds??
Hi!! I'm new to DU. I'm a HUGE bully fan and own two English staffy terriers. I hate that they're shunned. People will cross the street just to get away from them. When if they just gave em a second of their time, they'd love them!! Fortunately Vermont doesn't have any BSL rules, UNLESS you live in St.Albans.. 
but so many places do. What are you're feelings?

Hey all!! I'm new to DU and accidentally found it while researching a personal issue. That issue aside, I'd like to know how to go about starting an anti BSL discussion. If anyone knows, please give me pointers and let me know. I would think a forum this large would have some kind of animal rights area, but thus far, no luck. THANKS!!
