The Kids Are All Right
I haven't seen all the nominees, but of the one's I have seen, this is my pick for best movie. I love independent, cast based movies like this, but this one is really special, imo. Daring, delightful, complex and thought provoking - everything a movie can be.

You can keep True Grit - felt like I had seen that one a hundred times before. But this one - I have never seen anything like it.

The Kids Are All Right
2010R 107 minutes
Joni (Mia Wasikowska) and Laser (Josh Hutcherson), the children of same-sex parents Nic (Annette Bening) and Jules (Julianne Moore), become curious about the identity of their sperm-donor dad (Mark Ruffalo) and set out to make him part of their family unit, often with hilarious results. But his arrival complicates the household dynamics, and nobody is sure how he fits in -- if at all -- in this Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning comedy.

Cast:Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska, Josh Hutcherson, Yaya DaCosta, Kunal Sharma, Eddie Hassell, Zosia Mamet, Joaquin Garrido, Rebecca Lawrence Director:Lisa Cholodenko Genres:Comedy, Gay & Lesbian Comedies, Indie Comedies, Indie Dramas, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Blu-ray This movie is:Emotional, Romantic, Feel-good, Witty Format:DVD and Blu-ray

2. Really, really liked the movie...
Most of us watched it together and just loved the story. I thought Annette Bening did a superb job in her role in particular. The ending was great and so realistic (I can see our kids definitely saying something like that to us!).

4. Finally found one we disagree on.....!!!!
Edited on Sun Feb-27-11 10:49 PM by NRaleighLiberal
both my wife and I absolutely hated it. Just goes to show you....no absolutes in how movies, music, etc come across to different people. (if you must know why, we found it horribly overacted, esp. Annette Bening...we loved her in American Beauty, though - one of our favorite movies of the past 10 years or so)

Felt the same way about The Social Network, but for a different reason - utter dislike of all of the characters in the movie!
