Oldboy, a great Korean flick!!

Once you get past the dubbing (I prefer subtitles) strap yourself in for a ride.
A great mystery, not so much of who but why. Great pacing, layered characters, and a fight seen that will leave you sore from mirth like you just got your ass kicked.
One of my favorite foreign movies you just wish more people saw so you can talk about it.

There has been some talk about Will Smith and Steven Spielberg teaming up for an American version. I'm just afraid they'll water the ending down for "American" sensibilities.

Oldboy
(Oldeuboi)

1. Really, the streaming version is dubbed?
The other foreign films I've seen on streaming have been subtitled, including a less mind-bending Korean film called Memories of Murder, which I streamed a couple of years ago before I even had a Roku.

(I don't know if Memories of Murder is still available, but if you see it, see if you can catch the *flaming* clue that the detectives let slip by.)

I saw Oldboy as part of an Asian film series a few years ago, and I can't figure out how a Hollywood movie would deal with the revelation of who the waitress is. I thought the ending fight was positively cartoon-like, but the premise was fascinating.

2. I liked that one, too.
That's what I love about Netflix...a took a flyer on this one, but I found it very intense and worth the time investment. A fascinating plot.

3. We've got that on our DVD list, didn't realize it was streaming. But if the DVD
is subtitled, I think I'll wait for that. Glad to hear a thumbs-up, however!

4. Also watch the other two installments in the "Vengeance Trilogy"
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. All three are just AMAZING.
