One day maybe we'll see ads like this in America. :)

1. That's really nice.
The French do good advertising...low key, but to the point. Thanks!

2. They have gay people in France?
sacre bleu!

nice to see a grown up ad that treats our gay & lesbians friends as just plain people and that
a father can love his gay son.

however if I were in france for the same money you can get fresh bread, some cheese, and fruit.

7. I bet he does
At least in my world ... BTW my Aunt and Uncle (he was an Episcopal rector)
were loving and proud when their oldest son came out ..... and I am sure that
they know the truth for years too.

Besides didn't the dad say you could have had all the girls?

12. Just my guess (and i might be wrong)
.... and they are just actors playing a part but in real life a father would have to
want to be blind not to know if his son was gay. The all boys school has little to
do with it.

16. No . Sorry. That's just incorrect.

Lots of GLBT kids go thru HS and even college w/o telling the folks.

They don't want to disappoint them, whatever. That seems to be what the kid in the commercial is dealing with and it is quite common.

5. In Europe, and to a lesser extent Canada.......
...... ads deemed risque for American TV, such as those featuring gay couples or interracial couples, are a complete non-event.

8. I remember about twenty years ago
when I was visiting England, watching a commercial featuring an interracial couple and saying, "You wouldn't see that in America".

10. Are interracial couples still an issue on American TV?
I don't see much TV, and virtually no American TV anymore. I remember noting that the barriers against interracial ads in Canada had pretty much come down by the mid-90s, not long after I moved here.

It's a shame we can't see the same type of ads here in the US.. it seems we are always 20 years behind the times.. maybe one day.

Until they kiss we will never know for sure. Because had that been a man and a woman they would have probably kissed long and hard. (I was referring to the Budweiser ad). And the McDonald's ad appears that the father doesn't know his son is gay. It's a start though.
