I watched the C-SPIN coverage...amused at watching the "Red Carpet" (Hey, Wolfie, Who ya wearin'??) as those wanting to be "seen" are seen. Then there were endless shots of the tables during the presentations and the hasty exit to the "after parties". What it showed was how superficial this "event" was...the gfaws and laughs coming at the expense of a competitor or political figure. I heard that the folks at the Wapo table muted their responses not to offed "Da Donald"...a very uncomfortable moment I'm sure...but one of many.

Just watching I could feel the discomfort throughout that room...the fragile egos and phony comraderie. The subject and the object breaking bread and laughing at themselves...well almost. It was to be seen...to be considered a "player". You needed those yells from the ropeline, the mention in the monologs, the reaction shots on CSPIN. Full beltway hubris on display...
