Love blooms at shelter as evacuee and volunteer set to marry

MINAMI-SANRIKU, Miyagi -- At a shelter for evacuees in this tsunami-ravaged town, a new bond has formed, leading to a promise of marriage.

Seiki Abe, 42, is living at the shelter, set up at Shizugawa Elementary School. Nozomi Murakami, 28, an etiquette teacher from Ikoma, Nara Prefecture came to the area as a volunteer. On April 16, Abe and Murakami became engaged. After meeting each others' parents, they intend to submit their marriage documents to the town office.

They say they'll live in the tsunami-hit town. Though the going may not be easy, they want to press forward a step at a time, the same as the town on its road to recovery.
