"C’mon" says constituent --- Republican dumfounded at town hall VIDEO (1:01)
http://youtu.be/CoGpbRRTtLU

CONSTITUENT: With the oil industry, we’re giving them $63 billion in oil subsidies. And you cut what, thirty one, thirty two billion?

HULTGREN: Thirty nine billion.

CONSTITUENT: Thirty nine? Why don’t you cut out the subsidies? The depletion allowance that they take, four dollar, every quarter its a record profit. C’mon, you don’t have to subsidize an organization, a group of organizations that every quarter they make so much more than they did the last quarter and the quarter before that and so on. How about cutting that out? It’ll give you a nice tidy sum over ten years.

HULTGREN: I’m very open to looking at every subsidy that we do and questioning why we do this. And I want to know. I want to have the answers there. I just–

CONSTITUENT: But there’s no logic there. None whatsoever.

HULTGREN: Well I’ll look into that. That’s something we just talked about on the way into here

4. A Congressman doesn't know what we're giving oil giants in tax subsidies?
But he knows he just cut 39 billion in taxpayer services?

That's a bald faced lie. They all know that the tax cut for the rich is like 900 Billion (I don't know for sure, just recollection). They know that oil gets almost 70 Billion in tax breaks. They know GE didn't pay a dime last year. And they know that they just cut many social services by 39 billion on top of the initial 30 billion cut originally.

We can't sit by and let these people lie to us. They want money from big oil so they can keep their job, so they give them money. Your and my vote is worth nothing to them.

Our elected officials should have the balls to look at big oil and say, you'll give me money for my campaign and you'll also pay a LOT more in taxes this year and every year until we've fixed this mess Bush and the banks and war companies got us into. And (they should have the balls to say) you, big companies and rich people will do it and like it. You know why? Because we're going to protect you from the wrath of the American people. And, if you don't, we'll work our constituents up into a frenzy until you lose so much money you'll come BEGGING me for help.

THAT'S what an elected representative is SUPPOSED to do.

Not say, "What? Cut oil subsidies? Hmm. I never thought of that. I'll have to look into it and get back to you."

F YOU, Republican wealthy scumbags. And Dems too, if they don't get with the program.

WE have to DEMAND this of our representatives! It's not about voting. Voting is rigged by the wealthy. If it wasn't for our consumption of their products, these wealthy scum would have NOTHING. WE have the power to STOP spending our money on them. WE have the power to CHOOSE who we want to make rich and who we want to make poor. WE have to WAKE UP and START making noise.

God, this hubris just pisses me off!

10. But how do you make them fear your demand?
That's the million dollar question! We know we need to 'demand' more from them. But...where's the rest of it? I'm reminded of the movie Demolition Man.

Cop: "Simon Phoenix! Lay down on the ground!"
Simon: "Psh."
Cop: "Simon Phoenix! Lay down on the ground with your hands over your head...*gulp*...or else!"
Simon: "Or else WHAT?"

Of course, Simon Phoenix then proceeds to thoroughly trounce them and destroy their vehicle. They had nothing to back up what they demanded.

I don't know what the answer is. But we're pretty much caught in this loop until we get one.
