Haley Barbour Not Running For President: I Don't Have That 'Fire In The Belly'
Source: TPM

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) announced on Monday that he will not seek the presidency in 2012, saying that his supporters "deserve no less than absolute fire in the belly from their candidate. I cannot offer that with certainty, and total certainty is required."

"I will not be a candidate for president next year," Barbour wrote in a statement. "This has been a difficult, personal decision, and I am very grateful to my family for their total support of my going forward, had that been what I decided."

Barbour was on the short list for potential 2012 candidates, but got into a bit of trouble in the past few months for, among other things, praising the Civil Rights-era white supremacist group the Citizens Council.

6. He'd have that fire in his belly if he thought there was any way he could win
I think the Republicans are looking for a throwaway candidate for 2012. They're up against three problems:

They know--they HAVE to know--the tea party economic deform package of spending cuts, tax cuts and social-program elimination hasn't got a chance in hell of working. If the Republicans lose the 2012 election they can sit there and obstruct like they do, but the second they put a Republican in the White House they have to deliver--and they can't.

They have to beat Barack Obama. They know that's going to be a very difficult task--say what you will about him, but he can campaign his ass off.

And there isn't one Republican out there who's interested in being president who's capable of handling the job, with the possible exception of the unelectable Mitt Romney. (The man's signature is on a piece of legislation that contains a health insurance mandate. There is no fucking way he'd get elected with that on his resume.)

So, basically, I think they'll run Palin next year because not only will he beat her like a rug, her defeat will give mainstream Repukes license to ignore the teabag movement once and for all.

15. Your Half Right...
Palin will be their nominee and they will whole heartedly embrace the tea baggers because her running mate will be Herman Cain...... Their Goal will be the woman's vote and an attempt to skim some of the African American vote from Obama... This combination is going to be very hard to fight against....

And then we'll see who Rove, Murdoch and the Kochs REALLY plan to oppose Obama.

I promise you that whoever it is, his/her name has NOT seen many headlines yet.
