OK, I just got home from a crappy day at work where, along with everybody else, I was treated either like cattle or like an elementary school kid (take your pick), and I am far from the only one who notices and resents it. There are innumerable other workplaces that operate the same way. Workers in many places getting restless and demanding that their collective bargaining rights not be stripped away. Recall efforts are underway in WI, which seems to be the worst offender, or at least ground zero, in this trend. Obama finally starts swinging back at the GOP and their constant whining like a spoiled Labrador Retriever (thank you Rachel Maddow). Obama's popularity is rising. So is the popularity of the idea of taxing the rich to help with the deficit. The idea of cutting programs that actually help people: not so popular.
The people in this country who actually work for a living have been taking it on the chin for at least the past 30 years, from the time Reagan fired striking air traffic controllers. Their wages have declined in real terms, and corporations actually get tax breaks when they outsource jobs. The Republicans have been metaphorically beating the dog for all this time, and now they want to be surprised that it turns around and bites them? Let the serious mauling begin in 2012.
