Evidence of this country's demise
Edited on Fri Apr-15-11 07:32 PM by Sparkly
This "comment" on Yahoo, following the AP article on the GOP's (Surprise!!) budget with yet MORE draconian, kill the middle-class cuts:

It's easy and ignorant to sit back and hate the rich in this country and to whine that the "greedy rich people" are to blame for our woes. What's not often realized is that we have so many rich people in the U.S. BECAUSE we live in the U.S. In no other country are there as many opportunities to become as rich as want if you are willing to work hard for it. Why do you think the U.S. has the greatest per capita percentage of millionaires? Because of my career choice I don't expect to be make millions, but I'm happy and I like the idea that if wanted to apply myself I have the ability and opportunity to do it. Most other countries, via intentional design or unintentional, are not set up to allow people to reach their maximum potential. No matter how hard you work your potential is capped. You’re stuck in neutral. In the U.S. some politicians are working hard to impose a cap on our individual potential in the name of equal distribution of wealth. How productive do you think an individual would be if they knew there was an artificially created ceiling they would limit them and their achievements? Stop being jealous of rich people and be grateful that they are there as proof that you too can achieve that if you want it. If we reach the point that there are no “rich” people in this country then you most likely have no money yourself and are probably eating garbage and living in a cardboard box. Stop being jealous and consider yourself lucky to live in the U.S.A.

3. Yep, if you just work hard, you too can be a millionaire.
Get off of your lazy ass! :sarcasm:

It always amazes me when I see a coal miner or a garbage collector or fisherman working their asses off, and I see rich people playing golf and having long lunches, that they can defend this statement with a straight face.

4. I'm not "jealous of rich people"
I just want them to pay their fair share of taxes. As of right now, they aren't.

6. "In no other country are there as many opportunities to become as rich as want"
Pernicious Bullshit

If "hard work" = $$$ then that principle isn't working with me. IN fact, I have noticed, the harder the job, the lower the pay. Become CEO who does nothing but run companies into the ground and you're a freakin millionaire!

9. And don't ever work so hard and so well that you make those above you look like slackers, you'll
lose your job, especially if you happen to be in "health" "care".

And I'm NOT just saying that.

Under productive? Your managers will try to get rid of you

Fucked, no matter which way you go

Also.. it helps to win the Sperm Lottery and be BORN into money.. which opens the doors to get you more money.

I once bought a set of motivation tapes from Tony Robbins.. "How to Become a Millionaire"...

Step #1... Get $100,000 in cash.

Step #2... Now take that $100,000 and ( fill in the blank )

I'm still working on Step #1.. LOL

15. There have been studies that show Americans think they will be rich "someday"
despite the fact that Americans are less likely to change class status over the course of a lifetime than the English or for that matter anyone living in Europe. Americans have this amazing capacity for self-delusion, which turns into a love the rich, hate the poor credo.
