Si Infidele: Coffee drinkers like to 'drink around'

INVERNESS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--While there are many millions of coffee drinkers who rely completely on Starbuck’s to satisfy their coffee urges, more than half of Starbuck’s customer visits come from customers who regularly visit Dunkin’ Donuts or McDonald’s for a hot beverage and/or breakfast over the course of a month.

This is among the findings of QSRdna, a massive benchmark survey of the annual shopping habits over 15,000 quick serve restaurant (QSR) customers conducted by CustomersDNA, a marketing and research consulting firm.

The QSRdna report found that while 41 percent of Starbuck’s customer visits come from customers who can be considered “loyals” who did not visit any other coffee/breakfast chain during the average month, 53 percent, identified as “roamers,” also stopped by either Dunkin’ Donuts or McDonald’s during an average month.

Shopping patterns for Dunkin’ Donuts’ customers were similar (42 percent loyals and 53 percent roamers). McDonald’s had the most loyal customers, with 62 percent of the visits by those that did not visit either Starbuck’s or Dunkin’ Donuts during the average month. ..............(more)

1. is this just plain coffee or everything ? i never understood those who just had to go to starbucks

i guess if there is a drink or some other item that nobody else has.

but i was at some convention thing once and wanted to get some food . the only place that seemed to be open was starbucks and i asked someone if that's theonly thing open and she told me about a few other places but they aren't starbucks.

i think coffee bean tea leaf is better than starbucks.

2. I can't stand Starbucks coffee taste; I always buy from independent coffee stores. The burger>>>

chains have even worse coffee. Any coffee that has been standing hot for over 30 minutes is ruined.

3. I like a soy latte from 'Bucks, because the steamed soy milk overrides the overroasted bitterness...

..... of the coffee. .... But just a plain cup of coffee at Starbucks? You'd be better off pouring dirt into a cup of water.

Coffee's not bad, (although thier Kona blend's has gone down in quality ever since they started putting it in the bigger jugs rather than the carafes) and they use it as a loss leader. 99 cents for any size.

My favorite is Cornerstone Coffee in Indianapolis (broad ripple). Their Black Thunder is mmmmm and the place is laid-back and cozy.

9. Coffee unit in - coffee unit works

This should be not surprise. Starbucks or any coffee shop place is a treat for most people.

I get one maybe twice a month other than that I just make some in the morning and use it to get me going.

Going to Starbucks every workday is a $100 monthly expense most people are not going to be able to do.

10. We rarely drink coffee outside of our home or offices

but we're genuine coffee drinkers.

Blue mountain at home is way better than expensive cheap coffee from anywhere. The only time we buy coffee is at the airport and they have great blue mountain or after dinner in a restaurant.

I have never been to a Starbucks, I haven't set foot in a McDonald's in over 20 years, and the nearest Dunkin Donuts is 20 miles from me.
I brew my own at home and rarely have coffee when I go out.

is that I take hubby to school and the STARBUCKS is nearby. Otherwise I'd do my locally owned coffee shop.
