Barbara Boxer defends her support of tax-cut package
As other liberals lambaste the tax-cut measure, which could be approved by the Senate and go to the House by Tuesday night, Boxer says it 'will be a help to the middle class.'

<snip>

"Though many of her fellow liberals oppose the tax-cut deal negotiated between President Obama and congressional Republicans, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) on Tuesday defended her support of the measure.

"The fact is, this bill will be a help to the middle class,'' said Boxer, who, during George W. Bush's presidency, assailed the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts as skewed toward the wealthy. She and fellow California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein backed the $858-billion package now before the Senate, even though it would renew the tax rates to all income levels, including the highest earners.

The measure could clear the Senate and go to the House by Tuesday night.

"I voted for this bill because I think our economy continues to be in a fragile state when it comes to job growth,'' Boxer said on the Senate floor."

2. It's called governing. Things will have to be compromised to get legislation done.

12. It gives money to the unemployed
They will spend where they could not.

It allows the middle class to keep more money which they will spend.

Republicans should admit it should create jobs by the rich (though they are wrong - but they should admit this).

14. the problem seems to be that we are ruled by
the ruling class-that is we have an electoral system that almost requires one to be a millionaire at least before even considering running for office and then act surprised when they do not vote to raise their own taxes

16. I joined the Facebook Filibuster
and sent a message to Barbara yesterday to NOT support this bill. Apparently there weren't enough of us to sway her vote. I respect her and, if she feels that this is the best we can do, I will still stand behind her.
