South Africa: Stop 'Corrective Rape'

Thembi (name changed) was pulled from a taxi near her home, beaten and raped by a man who crowed that he was ‘curing’ her of her lesbianism.

Thembi is not alone -- this vicious crime is recurrent in South Africa, where lesbians live in terror of attack. But no one has ever been convicted of 'corrective rape'. Amazingly, from a tiny Cape Town safehouse a few brave activists are risking their lives to ensure that this heinous practice is stopped and their massive campaign has forced the government into talks.

If we shine a light on this horror from all corners of the world -- and enough of us join in we can escalate the pressure, and help make sure these talks lead to concrete and urgent action. Let’s call on President Zuma and the Minister of Justice to publicly condemn ‘corrective rape’, criminalise hate crimes, and ensure immediate enforcement, public education and protection for survivors. 3. This is the first I have heard of corrective rape. Do they really think they are helping women,

or is it just a really stupid excuse to rape?

Unfortunately, it's the same sort of help James Dobson proposes when he says showing your dick to your son will keep him from turning gay.

The theory goes like this: Women are lesbians not because they were born that way but because they've never had sex with a man. SO...if she has sex with a man (the rapist, in this case) she will realize what she's missing out on and immediately change into a loving heterosexual.

Having never been a woman I can only theorize on this, but I think if my first sex with a man was a rape, whether I was lesbian or not I would never want to have sex with anyone again as long as I lived.

witch doctors telling men with aids will be cured by raping virgins. They expect half the work force to be dead from aids
Was lectured daily on how on earth we could elect a black president and that Obama is going to bomb Israel. Was on farm where blacks decapitated family pet dog as it barked when they rode by in their donkey cart. Don't know who I disliked more...white or blacks.
