Bill O'Reilly gets called on the carpet by one of his smear victims

By David Neiwert

Last week we observed -- especially after the arrest of a neo-Nazi in Spokane for a planned bombing of a parade the next day -- that Bill O'Reilly owed Mark Potok a big apology for smearing him after he offered the opinion that, as domestic-terrorism threats go, the extremist right remains a much more potent problem than homegrown Islamic radicals. (OReilly repeated the smear even after the Spokane arrest.)

Of course, we knew that wasn't gonna happen. But last night on The O'Reilly Factor, we got to see the next best thing: Potok pinning O'Reilly's ears to the wall for the smear.

O'REILLY: Now a few weeks ago, Mr. Potok, you said on CNN the biggest terrorist threat is coming from the radical right community. Do you still stand by that?

MARK POTOK, SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER: That is false as I think you know. I said the biggest domestic threat to America was from domestic radical right not domestic jihadists, in other words, not home-grown American Muslims. That was twisted on your show by you.

1. I think the biggest domestic terrorist threats are the Kochs, GOP guvs and Fox News.
Half witted racist teabaggers are tools.

3. A really big problem is...
that the people who normally watch O'Liar will never understand that he is wrong or that he should give the man an apology, or anything of the sort.

Potok could have gone onto the show with video and large illustrations of all the thngs O'liar has misstated, misrepresented, twisted, and all out lied about and the normal viewership would never believe him.

Unfortunately, until we can find a way to make Fox tell the truth (with little to no slant), their viewers will continue to be ignorant to the fact that they are ill informed and being used by the wealthy elite.

While Fox gives me a headache, it is their viewership that really make my migraines worse.

7. Exactly.
The Fox congregation will believe whatever Reverend Bill has to say.

Or Pastor Hannity.

Or his Holiness, Rush.

etc.

9. I'm a big advocate of poaching O'Reilly watchers... through their wallets.

I always like to get O'Reilly watchers on a roll. I wait for them to spit out some of the bullshit that is provably false, then I say; "Wanna bet?"

Some don't pay up after you prove them wrong, some do.

It's fun sport and nearly anyone in the reality-based community can do it.

Guys like O'Reilly and the guys he feels required to defend.
