‘Anonymous’ takes down UK Copyright Service website
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/03/24/anonymous-takes-down-uk-copyright-service/

By Eric W. Dolan
Thursday, March 24th, 2011 -- 6:54 pm

he decentralized community of hacktivists known as "Anonymous" knocked the website of the UK Copyright Service offline on Thursday.

The copyright protection agency, known internationally as Copyright Witness, was targeted by a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack as part of an online campaign named "Operation Payback."

DDoS attacks flood websites with meaningless web traffic to slow them down and can sometimes knock websites offline entirely.

1. So what, pray tell, did this legitimate business do to incur the wrath of Anon?
UK Copyright Service supports international copyright protection by providing independent evidence of originality and ownership in the event of any claims or disputes.

4. I think its existence is enough to rub Anon the wrong way.
I get the feeling that Anon doesn't believe in the concepts of copyright, intellectual property, royalties, etc...

10. What? You actually want a PAYCHECK? You are supposed to share
your creative wonderfulness for light and benevolence and the sheer joy of creating it.

Hell, you act like a damn capitalist, expecting compensation for sharing your talent. The very nerve.

Hmph.

11. That's why they call it playing music, right?
It's just play, not real work.

Oh, and artistic ability is just something handed out at birth.

Artists are simply the beneficiaries of the cosmic genetic lottery, and they don't have to work or practice to do what they do.

(I've heard many variations of the above over the years.)

5. I'm guessing you possess no intellectual property, then.

8. Oh, I imagine the poster has some intellectual property.
It's just that he/she didn't create it.

7. Is it a joke? Read a book lately? Listen to some music?

Those folks aren't doing it for the fun of it. If you didn't pay for it, then....oh, never mind.

6. Hoodlums.
Nice job, Anonymous. Next stop - world domination?

I think you need a submarine and a guy with steel teeth for that.

Gangsters.
