1. Thank you sufragette. I like the AFLCIO website
Nice video of the Wisc. demonstrations.

I hope this grows into a huge labor movement across the nation. Then we could say that Scott Walker served some useful purpose.

I will sign the petition, thanks.

9. Yes, it is a wonderful video.
They are doing a great job. Just watched a show on RT (Russian/English TV) which talked about how the Greeks and other European countries like Portugul, eg, are simply refusing these 'austerity' programs. The people do not believe that they should pay the bills of corrupt bankers. A top Portugese minister, maybe the PM not sure yet, has finally 'thrown up his hands' saying 'I can't do this anymore, and has apparently stepped down.

I have to check that out more, but that is what people here should be saying. 'You created this mess, you pay for it and don't even dare to try to pass it off on the most vulnerable people'.

Time to fight back against these thieves.

12. Wow. This looks pretty complicated
At a quick read:

The PM, Socrates led the minority govt in Portugal. He's been leading austerity measures there, in part to keep from bailout and IMF controls. His latest austerity measure did not get support for Portugals parliament and there are multiple parties (looks like 5) in the mix, with the center-right one pushing for this and potentially new elections. Now, Socrates has resigned.

16. Thank you, I will check out those links. I just heard now that
similar opposition to these Global Capitalist measures, austerity etc. is now causing Belgians to take to the streets and here were confrontations there with the police today also.

People around the world are waking up. We all need to 'just say no' to these criminals and start taxing them and prosecuting them and as Michael Moore said in Capitalism, A Love Story', get our money back.

Now I'm going to see if I can find some information on what is going on in Belgium and Greece also :-)

18. I hope it will. Workers around the world are fighting back it seems.
I think we need a Global Labor Movement. The Banksters went Global long ago. The people were at a disadvange, isolated in their individual countries. I think it's time for the people to catch up ~ and it looks like it may be happening ~ :-)

Protests against 'austerity summit' turn violent

The unions are protesting the imposition of the deepest level of economic integration in the EU's history - the delivery of 'economic governance' in the union that will require wage restraint, hikes in retirement ages, public sector cutbacks and limits on government spending, amongst other stringent measures.

"This happens while bankers and CEOs are continuing to receive huge and scandalous bonuses and pay and very little has been done to remove what really causes the crisis," ETUC said in a statement.

"The European trade union movement stands clearly against these policies and states that this is not only unfair because the burden is carried only by the ones who are not responsible for the crisis, but also wrong from a economic and strategic point of view."

.....

Similar actions were due to take place in Spain and Germany, according to trade unions, with a further major more nationally-focussed anti-austerity march to hit London on Saturday.

Unions are leading the protests, it seems. I love that they are finally stating the facts. That the people did not create these problems and those who did should pay. I hope this movement spreads across the globe. Maybe American Unions and European and Asian, African etc. should join forces now?

The demonstrations are part of a series of rolling actions across Europe. On 16 March in Bucharest some 50,000 workers hit the streets, according to the European Trades Union Congress and on 9 April in Budapest, Hungary's six trade unions are to descend upon a meeting of EU finance ministers.

This is exciting. Push back against these criminals needs to be intense. People have had enough of the greed and corruption and the blatant way they continue to reward themselves while attempting to make the people pay.

20. Agree we need to organize globally to counter corporatists who have already done that

Looks like London today has had far more people turn out than anticipated.
And more would have if they could have made it there.

So many wanted to attend that they did not have enough transport to take them there:

People have had enough and are pushing back.

22. Yes, that was awesome, to see so many people
there. I read an early report saying it was half a million, although later reports say 250,000 which is still a huge number of people which I hope will only grow as people become more angry.
