There are plenty of evil dictators around the world doing horrible things. In fact, we've installed a few and backed them with money and weapons.
So, why now? Why do we suddenly care about "democracy in the Middle East" now? We all used to understand that their lines are bullshit They used this line before, when we invaded Iraq.
We saw our government cover for BP during the oil spill. We were told that Corexit was not harmful and we were told that the ocean would soak up the oil--and that the seafood was just fine to eat.
Now, the energy companies are in the middle of a nuclear PR crisis. They don't want "We The People" galvanizing against their vested interests. They had to disrupt the constant attention on the story. The attention on this story only magnifies the fact that most articles written about the radiation are unclear and filled with quotes from lobbyists who schlep nuclear energy.
Libya as the main story--with Japan radiation as a minor story is a convenient way of saying that the radiation story isn't important. NO worries here.
When Ann Coulter insulted those who were concerned about radiation and touted the benefits of radiation--it was obvious what was happening. She carries water for the neocons.
It's all so perverse.
