How Will The U.S. Pay For The Libyan War?
How Will The U.S. Pay For The Libyan War?
(posted with permission from http://sane-ramblings.blogspot.com/2011/03/how-will-us-pay-for-libyan-war.html)

On the 8th anniversary of the Iraq War, President Obama, with U.S. allies, launched the Libyan War. But President Obama didn't say how he intends to pay for this war so presumably like the Iraq and Afghan Wars, it will go on the credit card.

Given that the U.S. government already borrows 40 cents of every dollar it spends and is running the printing presses at the fastest pace in U.S. history, what will happen to America's finances?

And as those finances deteriorate even further, what will become of the food and medical programs for poor families and operation head start for their children and in-home health care and food programs for the elderly and frail. Will the U.S. continue to layoff teachers, police and firefighters?

The President painted the U.S. a hero for attacking Libya's tyrant, Moammar Kadafi, but how heroic is it when those most in need in the U.S. are left to suffer in silence because there isn't enough money for them. Please join me in raising your voice for compassion and fiscal sanity.

People in China like to save.
People in the US like to spend money we don't have.

It is a match made in heaven.

Bet they didn't complain about the Iraq war costs during the BushCo years, though.

18. It's all posturing
The Democrats SWEPT the 2006 midterms by loudly complaining about Iraq.

Then promptly handed Bush a blank check

It's just interesting - seeing the right starting to do the same thing

And I complained about the costs of the Iraq War, the tax cuts for the wealthy, AND the Medicare prescription drug program that was a giveaway to Big Pharma. Now what?

No mention of a humanitarian crisis here. Nope. No mention of a rescue mission for the libyan people.
These anti-Obama (and/or) teabaggers are so obvious.

America is already spending money on 2 fake wars and many states are trying to destroy worker rights. It is a very valid and current question "Who Will Pay"

45. RE: I'll bet they had no problems when BushCo and Tom DeLay ran up the debt .
Well, you would have lost that bet.

And the author of that blog has held 261 candlelight vigils:

The Candlelight Vigils, A Plea For Peace in Iraq and Afghanistan, are typically held Wednesdays from 6 pm to 7 pm in Torrance, CA. in memory of all who have died or been seriously wounded in the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan. Please join me by lighting a candle each Wednesday evening for an hour, wherever you are, such as in the privacy of your home or office. If you do, you will find that candle's glow is magic as it brings these people into your heart. It may even touch your soul.
http://candlelightvigils.blogspot.com/

..one every week for over 5 years, protesting the wars we are in. He is committed to policies of peace. Too bad the president we both voted for has acted like "Bush lite" on far too many policy decisions.

24. You can bet the defense contractors, who are in their counting
houses counting all their soon to be new money from this latest venture, won't be asked to pony up any more in taxes; nor will the wealthy whose stock gains from military spending are making them squeal in delight today; nor will those who call for military intervention volunteer to pay more in taxes to pay for this insanity.

Nope, you are right - those horrible people who think they're entitled to safety nets like food stamps, social security, medicare, medicaid - the poor and middle class will just have to suck it up a little more, put an extra hole in their belts, cut food intake in half, forget about sending the kids to college, forget about healthcare, forget about anything except paying for their countries forever wars.

It amazes me how we liberals who support equal rights and freedom and choice and peace quickly turn to our wallets and the me me me factor in a situation like this.
Yes it cost a lot. Yes it's unfair that we choose who is worth saving and who is expendable. But god damn..We can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good

48. I've got no problems paying for humanitarian things.
But I can think of about a billion things that the money could be better spent on than further enriching war contractors.

So yeah, we're not worried about our wallets. We're just pissed off because every time we demand any help for any group that isn't a millionaire we're told "We're broke. No cash. Too bad.", then the second a chance to launch some exploding penises at a country comes up, it's blank check time.
