3. My sis-in-law was hospitalized last week due to a

GI flu that got her dehydrated fast. One night in the hospital and she was out. Took a few bags of IV fluid to get her hydrated.

I didn't think it was weird. Or "untrue."

Being dehydrated makes you feel slightly unwell, for example. But you don't know what's wrong. Having a touch of food poisoning could be the same.

I have no clue about her medical history but no, you do not take VIP on foreign visit to the hospital.

That said, you can expect those euphemisms. Translation she needs a checkup for what could potentially be serious. Now I think they have alread released her, I am not sure...

Some people have had heart attacks and not known it. They just feel tired for a while. If you are feeling unwell you should be checked out, and if you are in a foreign country then maybe a hospital is the best choice.

17. I don't know if Pelosi flew commercial to Rome. I do recall one trip to northern Italy

where everyone on the tour came down with a gastro-intestinal virus. The first guy to have it got it the worst. He was vomiting and had severe diarrhea. Since he was in his mid 70s he was hospitalized briefly for a half day so they could check him out. I remember he was sitting next to me at dinner when he first got sick. Since there were a couple of physicians in our group they made the arrangements to get him into the hospital. The rest of of us had a milder case than his. I remember taking Immodium for several days just to keep on my feet and out of the bathroom...

you head to the hospital.

though the malady may seem typical, when you have certain symptoms, you have to check them out.

if you pull a muscle in your chest and have chest pain, you still go to the ER and they likely do an EKG on you just in case.

if she was lying, she'd still be in the hospital now.

Holy Christ, if I considered that just one time per year, I'd have spent my excess budget for 10 months. I'll consider it if I break 105 (although the one time I broke 104.5 I didn't), or if I can't breathe at all AND can't eat anything then maybe, but for feeling lightheaded?

and with that coverage, if you need to go to the ER, you can. and she's wealthy anyway.

and in Italy, if you're sick, they probably don't run a credit check before treating you anyway.

She went to the hospital to get checked out and now she is back at her hotel. Jet lag
can do a job on you. It can cause dehydration, dizziness, etc.

I'm don't see where the lie is. Why thew outrage? I prefer to wish Nancy Pelosi the best.

Feeling "slightly unwell" at her age could be a sign of other problems. An ounce of prevention and all that, y'know. And, maybe we really didn't need to hear the truth. If she was having a case of severe diarrhea I don't want the mental picture.

15. If you are in a foreign country and you are a senior citizen (like Nancy is), you might

end up in the hospital, since you probably do not travel with a doctor. A hospital is exactly the place you would probably go..especially if you are a high-profile visitor. Once there, they chose the best way they could to treat her..admit her and do tests. Apparently she was not in dire straits, since she was released. When she gets home, she'll follow up with her own doctor:)

I got very sick. Went to clinic, they sent me to hospital for more tests to make sure I didn't have appendicitis.
