But the reactors are still hot and many people are still homeless.

1. Yeah, but they're not getting bombed or shot at
and turnabout is fair play. After all, they drove Libya and other countries off DU for a while, too, even though some places were doing terrible things to their own people (Bahrain, I'm looking at you).

The world has already forgotten about the help they need.

27. There is a translated version of that on my cable in Los angeles
A little weird because they'll have translaters of either gender translating for the news cast. But it comes on only for 1/2 hour.

6. The Japanese students from our university were at WalMart today collecting donations. I'm happy to
say, it looked to me like they were doing very well with people actually waiting in small lines to fold up their cash and put it in the buckets.

I had a difficult time not crying openly in front of them. I wish I had more to give, because I would.

8. Not for me... but it has been harder to get updates over the weekend..
But, I am still transfixed with concern.

Libya is important, but it will play itself out over what I predict to be considerable time.

11. I posted quite a few OP's and comments re Japan, my mind needs a short break from the stress
I'm sure it is probably the same case with some other DU'ers.

A person can handle just so much stress and spend time obsessing with each detail before needing to take a break.

18. I dunno...I hang out on the greatest page for the...
Most part and, based on a quick scan of the topics, it looks like DU is doing a good job of spreading the attention around. From Japan to labor to Libya, even a story on a new major oil spill in the Gulf that has been reported next to no where else. The majority of the topics seem to be Japan related.

There's a lot of shit going on in the world, and I think DU does a great job of covering the bases.

The MSM?...not so much. You have to admit that Japan is not really a great PR story for the corporate overlords with all the negative stuff about one of their next cash-cows, nuclear power. Libya, on the other hand, is viewed as great PR for the MIC.

19. I don't think it's a matter of having fallen off the radar...
...I think it is rather that there hasn't been a whole lot of new information coming out in the last day or two. It has been discussed considerably, and I'm sure will continue to be as new details and updates emerge. In between the arrival of new information, I'm not sure that there is a whole lot to be accomplished by repeatedly discussing or debating the same information over and over again, especially since it is still an unfolding event.

21. Many of us are wondering what's going on over there.
Libya is the shiny penny right now, but I'd love to know why 200,000 Americans are being evacuated stat. That costs money.

26. You beat me too it! Charlie Sheen story lasted longer. early AM CNN hour news devoted 5 minutes to
Japan. I was going to post something about this. I'm stunned... at least 15 minutes of the hour news should still be on Japan, even with bombing in Libya.
