Tragedy in Costa Mesa as a city employee leaps to his death just as city officials begin handing out layoff notices to hundreds of workers. There was a vigil Thursday night for that young employee.

Earlier this month the Costa Mesa City Council voted to outsource 18 city services to cover a multimillion-dollar budget deficit, but many workers say the move makes no sense since it could end up costing more. Thursday's tragedy has only heightened tensions at City Hall as many were offended by the actions of Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan.

Well, with corporate media pushing a media narrative that government workers, teachers, etc., are elitist who pray upon taxpayers, should we be surprised when the Republican mayor of a city celebrates following the suicide of a laid off city employee?
