Ohio considers charging inmates for electricity
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio inmates paying their debt to society also would have to pay $1 per month for electricity and give up flavored drinks, under a state prisons budget plan.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the changes are among moneysaving ideas proposed this week to save the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction $30 million. Making water the only beverage with inmate lunches and dinners would cut $1 million. Another $3 million would be saved by offering meals with less variety but more of the most popular and least expensive foods.

5. It's like I said in the thread about the prisoner who saved $11,000 & the
state wants to take it away from him -- this is a nation that loves punishing people & we're escalating it to a sort of perpetual punishment. At least, of a certain class, that is. War criminals & corrupt banksters are exempt.

6. We only love punishing *some* people..
Note that the banksters for example have had no significant punishment meted out to them, I could go on for some time about people who are not being punished in the USA but I'm sure you get my drift.

7. How about the heretical idea of decriminalizing drugs? Or at least reducing penalties. nt
