Why should taxpayers have to cover the cost of sports? Schools are for education, not sports.

11. Has he lost his mind?
Football and this all in the same speech. He's probably toast. (Even if he is right.)

Perry continued, "Under the fiscal mismanagement of the Republican Party over the last 10 years, Texas is facing a massive $27 billion shortfall requiring deep cuts in education.

19. I taught in Texas and don't care for football myself, but going against
football in Texas is the equivalent of signing one's own death warrant.

22. Firemen First Principle - TEXAS STYLE!
I LOVE THIS!!!

I learned about this in American Government class. If a mayor or governor wants access to more money, he will state that he has to close some fire stations. The people react to that in horror, and suddenly they become willing to pay more in taxes. The hilarious thing about this in Texas, is that he DIDN'T say he was going to close a fire station. They wouldn't bat an eye over that. But, say you want to end football, and the governor will have all the money he wants. Just watch. This is Texas politics at its best.

23. Okay, I am going to get slammed on this but if I had to choose between
an academic agenda and sports, etc. I would take the former. However, I would do this ONLY if the crisis were real. These lying liars can not be trusted.
