Log Cabin Republicans Defend Boehner, Say Obama Was "Wrong" Not To Defend DOMA
Edited on Wed Mar-16-11 10:26 PM by TomCADem
I recall that DUers were repeatedly cheerleading and defending the Log Cabin Republicans for their attacks on President Obama while ignoring their silence during the Bush years. Yet, here they are standing up for John Boehner's decision to defend DOMA and attacking President Obama for not defending the constitutionality of DOMA.

I have always thought that the Log Cabin Republicans are nothing more than a GOP front that is used to attack Democrats from the "left" while giving Republicans a free pass. This just proves it once again.

In what appears to be an effort to avoid the ire of their conservative allies, the Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) have eased off of the one issue that distinguishes them from every other GOP group: Support for LGBT equality.

The LCR has openly supported a full repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), however last week executive director R. Clarke Cooper went on Hardball With Chris Matthews and supported Boehner's decision to defend DOMA in court.

Additionally, Cooper accused Obama of abdicating his duty and bringing up a controversial social issue in order to distract attention away from the economy (two claims that have already been debunked).

After repeated questioning by Matthews, Cooper even said that he believed Obama was "wrong" for refusing to defend the constitutionality of DOMA.

1. Gay Republicans suffer from a mix of Stockholm Syndrome and self-hatred.

5. Once again the Log Cabin Republicans Show That They Only Serve...
...to attack Democrats from the "left" while giving their party a free pass or, in this case, support discrimination against gays and lesbians.
