Haley Barbour aide out after Japan joke

Governor Haley Barbour's press secretary resigned today after POLITICO reported that he'd circulated off-color jokes about the Japan earthquake and former Attorney General Janet Reno, his office said in a curt statement today.

Barbour Press Secretary Dan Turner, a former reporter and Hill staffer who held the job since 2008, included those jokes in his Friday press round up. Similar lines had been a regular feature of his early-morning emails to other Barbour staffers and allies. One late December email included a joke about the Cambodian genocide.

Q: So, why did Dan Turner - the press secretary of Mississippi gooberner Haley Barbour (Racist) - think that jokes about Janet Reno, the Cambodian genocide, and the holocaust in Japan are OK? Why did he think that he could circulate these jokes with impunity?
