Sen. Lamar Alexander says we shouldn't abandon nuclear power
because of what happened in Japan just like we wouldn't stop flying because of a plane crash.

9. And the thing about bridges falling in earthquakes
I would hope that we as a people would be smart enough to take a pause in putting the bridge back up to make sure that it will not fall in the next earthquake!

Earthquakes happen all the time and we are still learning how they trigger and propagate. example - This section has been creeping for three decades but does that mean it will continue to creep in the future? It is questions like that lead to study and hopefully more generalized education about the very earth we live on.

We need to make damn sure that any new reactors put in earthquake prone areas are built to the best standards possible. I fear that the Repukes will get a hold of this sh*t and give the contracts to their supporters and cronies who don't care about building it as earthquake proof as possible. So long as they get to build it and charge the people five times what their services are worth, they don't care.

Sorry about the rant. This type of crap just gets to me. I've seen it more than I care to.

we will never abandon nuclear energy.

It won't happen. We won't even decrease our usage of it.
